I started geocaching in May 2007 when visiting my uncle for his 60th birthday in Ireland. My father had been discussing geocaching and travel bugs to both my uncle and I at different times promting my uncle to print out the details of a nearby cache and loan my wife and I his GPS. My first cache is still one of my favourites and it's very easy to see how I have become addicted to caching. I long trudge up Mount Leinster led to a feeling of achievement even before the find. My wife was the one to make the find.
It wasn't long before I first got a first to find too. Almost two weeks later, my wife and I were standing in a stream reaching to the underneath of the bridge to retrieve my fifth find. And it was a 5/5 at time of publishing which made the first to find even more enjoyable. Already I was doing silly things for a cache so it'sno surprise some of the antics I've got up to since.
Geocaching is a great way to take the mutt for a walk. My mutts have loved exploring new environments.
This hobby has taken me to some extreme locations, unsual spots on my doorstep or when sightseeing. And better yet I've made some great and varied friends.
